I know DPMS makes a .243 AR. Im looking for more of a lightweight hunting rifle.

Anyone know of a company that makes like a .243 without heavy barrels/bull barrels?

Or atleast uppers, I know it is just an AR10 lower.

Get a .243 WSSM upper from Olympic Arms or one of the other custom makers. It's .243Win ballistics in a fat case that fits in an AR-15 Mag.

You could also go .25 WSSM which is basically .25-06 ballistics in a fat case that fits in an AR-15 Mag.

All you need to buy is the upper for them if you already have an AR.

I can reload .243 and have lots of brass for it. thats the reason i would use it.

Armalite has an ar-10 in .243 that I just seen. Im in the same boat as you.

Yep, Armalite makes one. Company I recently ordered my AR10 shows a few in stock, but I wouldn't reccomend them....(the company)

Olympic is also making a 22-250 AR15 that uses standard ammo, but they need a proprietary lower and magazine so they'll fit.

It's called the UMAR.

As for receivers cracking, they've got a lifetime warranty if they do. Although I've only seen one picture that has been regurgitated a million times on the interweb. And to my knowlege, it was a cast receiver that no one uses anymore anyway.
