if you're worried about undue presure on the barrel (don't unless you've got a super duper FF high speed low drag long range shooter) because of the FSP attachment, just put it on the sling loop which is part of the FSP anyway. Sorry if that seemed like the obvious solution :) If you want a bit of an extension for that use a small length of 550 cord and create a loop off of the sling loop. If you've got free float rails, just get a sling mount attachment and go with that.

I use the 550 loop so that I can attach my slings with the HK snap hooks that I put on them. Then again I use old M60 padded slings. Maybe not the tacticoolest but they sure are comfortable and long enough :)

+1, however I believe you're referring to the post in the sling section...I built mine following these instructions for under $10:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=19&t=252462

Mine is exactly like the one pictured in the link except that I used black webbing.
I just read this thread about a hour ago and have been to Ace and back and built the sling. It was pretty simple, Just pay attention to the pictures. I am really happy with it, I can't see any difference in it and others just like it on the web that sell from $25 and up.

here is a pic of the sling after being installed
