Long story short I have decided to build my first AR ,well sort of.I shoot thru my left eye so I ordered a STAG left upper. So my ? is what to look for in a lower I would like to match the finish on the lower and that seems to be about it.As far as I can tell from what I read most of your lowers are forged and cut the same pretty much. And I have been on AR15.COM and have read about fit and all of that stuff.I am leaning twoard this lower from Spikes Tactical http://spikestactical.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=55 simply because I like the logo and since I am lefty the fire and safe are engraved on both sides of the lower any help our web sites would be a lot of help Thanks

Best lowers IMHO, INPO:

RRA
LMT
Stag Arms
POF
Sun Devil
Sabre Defence

There are others that can be had cheaper that are well made as well. With lowers its more so about the parts kit you install. Naturally id go with Stag if you want the finish to match exact.

Spikes are fine, but why not just order a Stag complete lower and push the pins in ;)
The Calico Jack lower would be on my list of "gotta haves" if it was just didn't have the writing underneath it. I think that makes it look cheesy.

I would recommend http://www.dpmsinc.com.

I might catch some flak for throwing out a DMPS endorsement, but their lowers are just fine.
I just bought a DPMS lower yesterday. The "fire" and "safe" are written on both sides as well. Just thought I'd mention it since it was brought up.

I'm building a carbine, trying to keep it as light and frills-free as possible, though I am going with the heavy contour (not bull) threaded barrel. I'm thinking it'll end up as a basic A3 flattop with removable rear iron sight and green furniture.

I just picked up a couple more AR lowers from Anvil Arms. Had them custom engraved with my family coat of arms. Best freakin finish I have seen on lowers.

Assembled, with a Stag upper and some other goodies.

Give Jon at Anvil Arms a call. Great products, great prices, and he strives to make sure everything turns out perfect.

www.anvilarms.com

His website is in transition right now to a full service website, but he is very quick to answer both email and phone calls, so don't hesitate to call. Jon Kruger is a great HONEST guy, with awesome product and great prices.

I designed it in Illustrator and sent it to him. The Laser engraver uses CorelDraw3, so that is the best format to use. He still made do with the file I brought him. Great guy, willing to work the extra details.
