Overkill ??? that's a perfect carbine setup. The magnifier flips down when not needed for CQB, and locks into place for longer range shots. Me personally, I could do without the laser, and maybe without the flashlight. But I do think it is a nice rifle. The owner probably intends it to be a CQB rifle with a little optional reach.
