So I am not really a sling person but of late I have been needing one. I am looking for a decent sling that alows for firing as well, ready carry. The deal breacker is it must be something cheaper then dirt carries as I about to place my big christmas order so if you know of something good, let me know Thanks

I've used a few diffrent ones. Honestly one of the ones that worked the best for me was a rigged issue service sling like how I have it setup below.

550 Cord around where the delta ring normally is and the other end strapped around the buttstock. Works good for me and is free since I can get those slings.

I also have used 3 point slings which work okay but the extra sling piece running across the rifle can get fouled in your gear if that is a concern for you or not.

I have yet to use any single point slings but I hear good things about those for a lot of people it's personal prefrence. The sling I rigged above works well for me and is very cheap.

Here is a sling I found on CTD website that will probably work for you.

This one will work if you have a 20" model this may not work for the shorter ones. Too much material.

Here is one that will probably work on the shorter model ARs

Here is their tactical sling page

If you would have used the search feature you would see we covered this about a week ago... But since you didn't which pretty much makes the point that either "A" you did not know we had such a feature, Or "B" were to lazy to use it.

So I will help you out, Here is last weeks thread

http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54284&highlight=sling

And here is a pick of the one that I made several months ago...

Maybe I'm just set in my ways, but I use M60 slings, buy them for damn cheap on ARFCOM when I find them and just add on some HK like snap hooks that I get from DIYTactical.com for pretty cheap. Allows me to sling the weapon across the front, I don't dicker with the length adjustment, just set it to allow for my body armor and use it the same way with or without the CIRAS. There are very few times when I need to move it to a position other than the front. Even then it'll stay put, I get that extra bit of padding from the type of sling that it is and I'm not paying somebody a 500% mark up for a friggen piece of fabric :)

I need something for long carry so I am not really intrested in a single piont. The one in the link actually looks kinda like the one on ar15.com Anyone know a source besides ace hardware-none of those around here.

Here is the link to strapworks they will send you everything you need to make your sling

Trigger Snap.

Our trigger snap has two overlapping fingers that separate by pushing on the extended piece. Similar to a lobster claw. Also made from steel, this has a swivel on it that limits torque on the connector. Our trigger snap slings come with an elastic piece to help limit accidental opening by preventing catching on gear.

Eagle Industries Tac sling and attach front with para cord to your upper handguard vent. It will free up support hand and finger manipulation if you have light switches or levers. I had a Surefire 500A and used it this way for years. No white light ND's, no impeded movement, and easy off-side transition. Single point slings dangle and it's a pain to use the charging handle without getting tangled up. My second choice would be the Vickers Tactical 2 point sling.

You'll be happy with that. I use that same model on my issued M4 and it works great for long hours of carry and such.

The only thing to watch for is if you are a left-handed shooter, such as myself, then it requires a little modification so that way it won't cover the ejection port.
