I use a utility razor blade......put spring in, detent, hold in with edge of blade....put pin in. And if this is you "first time" do it in a large clear plastic bag so you don't loose the detent and or pin when you slip ;)
After a biuld or two, this becomes easy.

I ended up having my wife hold it with a set of angled craft tweezers. it worked. extra hands make the difference

Were gonna have to subtract 20 points for receiving help from an outside source while building your AR. :) :)

But we have to give him +40 points for getting his wife into the effort!

dont need to buy the special tool.
you can make it.
a dowel from the hardware store works fine.

drill a little hole in it.

I went through 3 of those damn pins before I figured that one out!!!

i got pretty lucky. when my wife was helping me she launched one across the room but she saw where it landed.

Probably equal effort and expense to just order the special tool. I forgot what i paid for mine.

Wouldn't be letting it get out that your wife has to use tweezers on it

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
