Hi All,

Does anyone out there have experience with the Carbon 15 from Bushmaster? I have a chance to buy one at a good price and I am just looking for information on how the shoot, hold up, etc...

TIA!

I have had one for about five years that I bought from the original manufacturer. So far, I have had no major problems. I have had a few FTE and FTF perhaps due to ammo choice. They are a blast to shoot, very light weight and kicks less than a 9mm. Accuracy is ok and range is what you would expect from a short barrel .223 (100 yards with no real drop) Not very good for conceled carry, but an ok choice for home defense.

How much can you get it for? Under $500. and you got a great deal.

Thanks AZBill!

This one is from the original manufacturer as well and not Bushmaster. The current price is $800 with 6 30rnd mags, the original mag, a sling and a Trijicon reflex site with the cover and anti-reflective peice on the front. The rifle has about 100 rounds through it and looks brand new. No scratches anywhere.

Sounds like a deal to me.

I can't wait to get the $$$ together for it. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be a POS. I haven't been able to find anything about them online as far as reviews go... which is probably a good thing. Usually if something stinks people will rant about it.

Thanks for the input!

Mrs. Airedale runs one as her 3 gun rifle. It works. It actually likes Wolf ammo better than the good stuff.

Get it, shoot it, and have fun!

Sounds like a good deal with the accessories. I put a cheap laser sight on mine for shooting at dusk or night. They are a lot of fun to shoot in low light situations, the mussel blast will light up the range.

With the right low penetration ammo it will make a good home defense gun (30 rounds of .223 should take care of most situations ;) )

The idea of having an AR that only weighs 5 Lbs fully loaded has appeal to me. I have a VEPR and a Remington 700P so I am all too familiar with 10+ LB guns.

I won't have it until at least Feb. I have to finish paying for another piece first. But when I get it I will post some pics here. I'm very excited now. I've had the chance to handle it a litle bit and it feels comfortable in the hands. I gave my last AR to my brother because he didn't have a rifle of any kind. He's a broke college student (at 28 yrs old) so I felt like I had to be the good big brother and hook him up right. It'll be good to get one back in the stable!

My mistake, I thought you were getting the Carbon 15 pistol. The rifles are nice too, but I never owned one. I always thought the rifles would get more military use due to their extremly light weight, for special forces or airborne.

They can crack at the rear take down pin

Crack with normal use or from military abuse? How does it crack?

LOL! Sorry... I knew better. I should have been more specific.

get an alum receiver. check out RRA especially if you intend to do 5.56.

I have carbon15 pistol, http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28657

And I love mine. But mine is a pistol, and a 9mm. And I love it. Check this out...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUFp3RCvIfo
the vid isnt mine, neither is the supressed->unsupressed 9mm M4. But mine is just as easy to bump and aim.

If I wasnt going to get a pistol, or a 9mm, you're basically getting an M4. Don't do that without alum. Youll be sorry, I know from first hand experience.

I have a late-model Carbon-15 carbine. I only have a few hundred rounds through it, but so far am pleased. The only problems I've had were verifyably mag-related.

The light weight is amazing.

My only complaint is a small one. It should have a dust cover.

I was wading through about 26 pages of crap on ARFCOM a few days ago, looking for some info about Stag arms that I didn't feel like being ridiculed for asking (ARFCOM isn't anywhere near as friendly as XDtalk). I found a thread about Carbon 15's. The ones from the original mfg. had some feed and function issues, but bushmaster seems to have ironed the kinks out since they acquired the company. Even if yours was made by the original company, Bushy will take it in for some free rehab if it has manufacturing defects. The deal you mention is pretty sweet, especially if the optic is in good shape.

...yeah and there is still a few posts regarding cracking around the rear take down pin.

Must get aluminum. M u s t g e t a l u m i n u m.

Just repeat until it is clear. Just my three cents, I had mine for about a month and mine cracked.

Those who do not the warning, will cast the same warning in days to come.

edit: bush was more than willing to repair though! :)

Denver45 - IMO they are absolutely oustanding. I have used the Type 97S in competition with remarkably good results. Check it out at www.bushmaster.com/carbon15/az-c15r97s.asp. They list for around $1200 without all the accessories.
G
Man! I'm on the fence with this one. If bushy will fix problems associated with construction then I think I might just have to get it and find out if it was worth it myself.

Thanks for all of the responses! You guys make this forum what it is...

Bushmaster WILL treat you good.
