Can you legally put a collapsible stock on a AR pistol. I thought is might be a nice way to have a SBR without the permit. is so does anyone have pics.

Stock or forward grip or a combo of the two as stated above = SBR. Gotta go though the hoops to get that kinda tacticoolness :D

the forward grip without the stock makes it an AOW which if purchased like that is only a $5 stamp but if you buy a regular pistol and then add it it is a $200 stamp. you could have a class 3 manufacturer add the forward grip and it would only be $5

but there is no way to get around the $200 stamp for a short barreled rifle

Yup, what they said.

Pistol + Stock = Short barrel rifle (SBR)

Pistol + front grip = AOW (Any Other Weapon)

Rifle + barrel under 16" = SBR

Pistol attached to an rifle (incase someone runs into this again) = SBR

Either of which is a Federal crime if you do not either pay the $5.00 or $200.00 transfer tax (form 4) or pay the $200.00 manufacture tax (form 1).

What they said. Can't do it without the paperwork.

Jump through the hoops and you can, but not until after you get the paperwork back from the ATF/NFA Branch signed and with a stamp attached.

Not sure about Louisville specifically, but KY (state in general) has no restrictions as long as you follow the rules.
