First AR build...which upper?

I left the gun show today with a DPMS complete lower with a collapsible stock that I got for $250 with tax. Now I need an upper assembly of course. I just have no idea which to get. I only have a few preferences which are a 16" barrel, detachable carry handle and sights so I can later switch things up a little, and I don't want to break the bank. I'll be using the rifle for target shooting at 100-150 yards for the most part. Things like a free floating hand guard and chrome lined barrel would be nice but not sure if they will fit into the budget which is a maximum of $500 for everything else. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

cmmg bargain barrel.
check it out, i've seen pics of them on different forum's and people are getting them dirt cheap. complete rifles for your buget, alot of times they
are old show guns and marked up a little bit.

new, rra makes an inexpensive upper and stag too.

oh.. you do want a chrome lined barrel.

Save up a little more.

An LMT M4 upper can be had for $450, but that's without the BCG/CH/rear BUIS.

The CMMG bargain bin is $550, but no rear BUIS. They are complete rifles. Their complete uppers run $575. No rear BUIS.

You can contact Grant at http://www.gandrtactical.com/ and ask about his ADS M4 uppers. Very nice for $530. But again, no rear BUIS.

Got mine from Del-Ton. It is a 16", chrome lined, A3, bolt assembly & charging handle inc., and I go it for $400 (on sale and ARF.com discount). Looks and works great.

All I can say is that I get my uppers from Pete at AR15SALES.COM .. I've pointed a few folks there and have no problem saying that if you get an upper from Pete and it isn't as described or is sub par, I'll buy it.

Thanks for the replies. I've been looking at RRA's CAR A4 upper. I may have to give AR15Sales a call sometime.

And what is a BCG and a BUIS?

Could I suggest a piston upper without getting a frenzy going here?

I have a Bushmaster with which I am very happy. If I had the money it would get a piston upper tomorrow!

WTF are you doing bring up piston uppers? I f'ing hate them man. They're worthless!!! Nah...actually I don't even know what they are, lol. Guess I have more learning I need to do! :mrgreen:

Pete will have the best prices and if he doesn't I do believe he at least matches and his prices included shipping the last time I checked. He's a great guy too, has no issue talking to you about what will best suite your need and price range.
