Stag all the way, if you order from their factory to your FFL should be around 800 maybe a little more. But quality is top notch.

That's the company I'm looking towards when I pick mine up this summer. I've yet to read anything bad about them.

Another alternative is to give Pete a call at AR15sales.com and ask him what his price is for a shipped RRA rifle. Be sure to give him the specifics of what you want, but I'm confident you can find a complete RRA rifle in the 700-800 range.

Link to his ad.

Another alternative is you can get a complete Stag Arms kit for $620 from him (shipping included).

All you need is a stripped lower (you should be able to find one in the $100 range) and some simple assembly.

And lastly if you're not in a hurry, you can check the trading post here. Occasionally a member is selling his AR15 and you can get good deals if you keep your eyes peeled.

Joe Kiser over in the Equip Exchange on AR15.com is also a good guy. I have purchased from him in the past, and he is top notch.

Full Upper $485 shipped
Stripped Lower $99 at local gun show
LPK $55 shipped
Magpul CTR stock kit (full kit) $149 shipped
Total: $788

And you there you have one top quality AR-15.

Check out the "want ads" on Glocktalk. Guy in Newnan GA has a never-fired M4 Bushmaster with case, etc., removable handle, collapsible stock, for $750. I'd buy it if I didn't already have one.

Mercmar,

Could you post a link to the ad on Glocktalk? I have searched but can't find it. Then again I can find posts about as well as I can find stuff in the fridge that is cleverly hiding right in front of me ;)

Thanks!

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it right after I posted this :)

+2 on Joe Kiser. Bought my Stag upper and lower for a little over $700.

I still don't think he has a website, just go to the equipment exchange over at AR15.com.

Well, today I got my Christmas present a little early. Talked the wife into it, and price helped. I got a Stag Arms version of the M4, flat top, front gas block (minus the site), standard 4 position stock. Price was $759 before tax (around $825 after taxes). It came with the hard case, Stag Arms T-shirt, bumper sticker, US Army M16 manual, catalog, and 30 round magazine. With my "mad money" (extra cash I'd been saving from per dium), I got A2 flip up style sites and 2 extra 30 round mags (total for all was just under $250).

This was at a gun show in the New Orleans area. There were also some vendors that had some other AR15s in the mid $700 to mid $800 range, but those were A2 style uppers and I wanted a flat top.

I was in contact with the guy. His dad died over Thanksgiving, so his priorities weren't in selling the AR. That's why there was no more activity. Sounds like a really good buy to me.

One "GOOD" problem with buying an entry level AR-15 is that you get to upgrade it to the hilt.....I own 3 and I will contend that the newness wears off very quickly. You WILL soon be adding on or upgrading such items as an extended floating tube handguard. This will cause you to need a flip-up front sight and gas block. You will want a vertical front grip and snap on rail covers, an Ergo pistol grip and MagPul, extra magazines and ammo, a tactical light, EOTech..... The list goes on. :D :D :D

I suggest a Double Star or a Rock River rifle.

Warhead, that's very true! I was looking at upgrades before I even bought my AR! That's why I was looking for one with a flat top and a front gas block already. Soon, there will be the Ergo grip, extended free floating handguard, snap on rail covers, and possibly the EOTech site. Oh yeah, and then the conversions...but which ones to get! LOL

It's true. Beware the nefarious black rifle disease. Iv'e got almost as much in upgrades as I do in the rifle. My wife is going to kill me if I buy another one, so I am going to build one up on the sly.:D
have fun

This is my exact situation and my exact plan, I just broke the $1,500 mark on my m4gery, need to be stealthy or my house will become a hostile place to live really fast

One thing I've got going for me is that I get home from work earlier than she does. I can "sort " the mail and meet the ups truck before she gets home:p
Yes I admit, I am not a man.
