I got a really cool CMT upper reciver from a friend of mine. The only thing is that it has extended M4 feed ramps. I have heard that normal feed ramp barrels do poorly with such recievers. Do any of you guys know where I can find barrels with such extensions? Bushmaster, DPMS, Rock River all gave me a thumps down for such feed ramps on their barrels.

Normal feed ramps will not work with that upper. You will have to come up with an M4 barrel extension for the barrel you use or buy a barrel with the M4 ramps on it. Happy shooting!

I was under the impression that the barrel extension could be replaced for one with M4 feed ramps?
Bravo Co. sells a M4 feed ramp barrel extension from CMT I think.

You can replace the barrel extension... it is going to be much, much, easier to just buy the right barrel. You need the barrel extension "socket" and barrel jaws to remove the extension... then when you put the new one on your going to have to time it just right with your front sight base so you have no cant. Then I dont know what kind of headspace issues you might run into.

Ive never replaced an extension, but it looks to be a super pain. You could probably get somebody like adcofirearms to put an m-4 extension on a RRA barrel... but you will probably spend more doing that than just getting a barrel with it already on there.

Then.... there is the dremel tool........but if you botch that job up... your going to need a new extension. My advice... get the right barrel for the right job. :D

Why not just buy a CMMG barrel to go with the upper. I just finished my build based on a CMMG upper and am extremely happy with it. Riflegear.com has good descriptions and photos, actually better than CMMG's website.
