It could be either one. I would take a good look at the sights and check if they are mounted properly. Then go to a rifle range start at 25 yards and work from there. It won't take you long to figure out what the problem is.

It won't take you long to figure out what the problem is.Recently, I was bore sighting my Colt 6940. It came with Magul folding sights. I'm using a dummy cartridge lazer.
As I was adjusting the sights, in order to get them lined up with the Lazer dot, I had to crank the rear sight all the way to the stop to the left. This doesn't seem right.
Could I have a defective sight, lazer, or both?
