So I got the lower receiver for my first AR-15 today. The upper should be finished. It's being custom built by my gunsmith in exchange for some technology consulting and web design work I did for him. I should have the entire gun finished by the end of this week. Pics to come soon.

I'm so excited!

Congratulations on the new AR but beware, BRD (Black Rifle Disease) is a real possibility and will drive you to buy more than one AR. No one is immune....it strikes without warning and the majority of AR owners suffer from it. ;)

BTW are any of you considering (or all ready own) a 6.5 or 6.8mm for your next AR? All the research I did shows the 6.5 to out perform about all other calibers in almost every way.

I guess the trade off is some even more expensive ammo!

Sigh...my gunsmith is being pretty slow about this. He keeps waiting on a part that he SWEARS is coming for the upper....

... I guess it will be another week without it.

CONGRATS & welcome to the world of AR shooters! Like the 1911, the AR is in a class all it's own and you are now a proud member. Best of luck with it and good shooting. :D

if he doesnt have all the parts, then it is a good possiabilty that you will wait longer then another week due gov. contracts, scare of the ban driveing up the demand, for black guns. i know i waited for over three months to get all my parts on my first gun
