It has the removable carry handle BUT has the "fixed" front sight.Ive had a cheapO scope mount and a cheapO scope on it,neither one has worked (of course).Im ready to "spend" (not outragous) what it takes for a GREAT scope MOUNT and a good scope. From what Ive read the scope mount can be the weak link.Would like to keep this under $400.Any opinoins or suggestions would be helpful.

Just out of curiousity, what "cheap-o" scope did you have? I'm guessing it's still better than some I have.

Do you have to have a one piece or will a set of rings do? If so the Burris Xtreme rings are damn solid. Also the Leupold QD rings are good too and both are at about $50-60 for a set. The reality is that you need to open up the funding a bit if you want the Great stuff. In the one piece world there is only one Great.. LaRue. But you're going to be at about half your budget.

Now what kind of optic are you wanting? Specifically what ranges are you looking to use it for. Fixed or variable?

Get a Smith or comparable riser; use Burris or Leupold rings and get a Bushnell Elite 3200 or comparable scope, and you'll have a nice, accurate setup.
