Optics for Colt 6920

So, I recently decided to sell my main AR which was a mega machine co. monolithic 12" railed upper and matching billet lower (it weights a ton), and start making my rifles more like the ones issued to troops, or at least as close as I can.

So, here's where I am, I have a colt LE6920 with a Knights Armament RAS system, and foregrip and the LMT sopmod stock.

I want to put some type of red dot on it, but here's where I'm running into trouble. I like the Eotech 553 TAN, but can't seem to figure out why it costs so darn much more than the other eotechs. And then, I'm not sure if I want eotech over aimpoint, because they are both very nice systems.

Advice on which to go with? Trijicon ACOG is out of the question due to the cost prohibitiveness of it.

My brother recently asked me the same question, so I have a bunch of pics I sent him so you can see different optics on the same rifle. After having fired each option, the reflex is by far my favorite because it simply works, is fast and most accurate unless bench shooting. If you want to explore Aimpoint, check out the PRO model which can be had, with mount included, for about $400. Hope the following pics at least help you visualize the same rifle with the different options.

Micro + Magnifier: Botach.com has a smoking deal on 3x mags for $300. Yes they are real, acquired from another country as unused/overrun. Aimpoint USA verified this but claims they will not support warranty claims because the product did not import thru them. Btw the red dot looks huge because I cranked it up high cause the photos were thru my cell phone.

1-4x CQB: this is a USO SN4S. For your range, I would say check out a Trijicon 1-4x or 1.5-4x. Most accurate but slowest to acquire target.

I'm very happy with the Eotech 553 and eotech g23FTS I have now. The Iron sights aren't zero-ed yet but I went with the best ones I could find...knight's armament. This rifle is reaching perfection for me. Just need a sling now.

Just need a sling now.
Here are a couple of choices:

VCAS Sling from Blue Force Gear:

VTAC Sling from Viking Tactics:

I have an Aimpoint PRO on my AR. At the time I bought it I was looking into Eotech sights as well. I decided on the Aimpoint because of the 30,000+ hour battery life and the proven ruggedness of the optic. I played with a couple Eotechs and I just didn't really like reticle all that much. I found the single red dot of the Aimpoint to suit me better. They are both quality products, I'm sure you'll be happy with either.

My limited math skillz only have him at three.

Just so I'm not accused of being a NecroPosting hater, heres a pick of my 6920 with a Burris XTR 1-4 on top. I've owned both the MTAC 1-4 & the XTR, and the MTAC makes for a better "Red Dot" at 1x power. XTR is a better precision scope.

Same rifle in an earlier config with Aimpoint Comp M2 with Larue mount....

The Aimpoint was awesome for fast acquisition & precision shooting out to 100 yds.

they have low cost red dot and scope options. I have their 1-4x with illumination scope and it was well worth the 119 dollars. is it as good as a trijicon accupoint? no, but it's still a high value scope.

here is a good review of the primary arms 1-4x scope i have.

there are also lots of reviews on their red dots. check out there stuff.
I went with Primary Arms' 1X SLX CYCLOPS with a Green retical. This unit allows me to adjust the clarity of the retinal - the Cyclops is a prisim with the Reticle etched on the glass.

In the past, I used red- dots on my ARs.
Those rifles are long gone. I recently bought a Colt 6940 and after researching optics, I settled on the Cyclops. With a price, as of this post, of under $250, it didn't break the bank.
