My 3rd & Final Pic, this piece is finished

After 2 years of trying to configure my Car-15 to where I wanted it to go, this is the final product....

I bought the gun back in 1989 and then 2 years back, I sent back the older lower for a newer logo`ed reciever. Still in Pre Ban Config!

Then, when I got it back I put a scope on it, using the T-168
6 X 32, which I love and purchased 4 additional scopes for buddies overseas.

All 4 scopes withstood the beating of sand, rain, knocking around and bad guy`s lined up and put down with them....

My buddies all came back home, THANK GOD !!!!
Along with those T-168`s....

2 were put on their own rifles and the other 2 scopes put on shelves with medals and other war bring backs...

So, here is whats on my weapon now and what the total package came too..

Oly Arms 16 Inch HB / Topped With A Mil Dot T-168 6x32 Scope $65.00 / Samco Forward Hand Grip $22.00 / Pentagon X3 Xenon Light in Black 135 - Lumen Light with Supersized 1.5" Reflector Lights Out To 300 Yards / With Tactical Pressure Switch...$200.00 Mounted On A Samco 3 Position Barrel Mount...$32.00
$319.00 in add on`s.

The gun back in 1989 cost me $399.00.....Dam, it hurts to say that now.....

Total $720.00......Into weapon!

I went to my local gun shop to see what a Old Oly Arms goes for on the racks and almost had a heart attack....WOW!

Heres the final pic on this gun!

My POF with it's 16 inch fluted heavy contour barrel, P-4SX Predator rail, YHM solid A2 rear sight, POF gas cylinder mounted hooded front sight with flourescent green tipped post, on a Mega lower built from a Stag parts kit with Stag ambi safety, Choate Milspec M4 collapsing stock and Hogue grip. (Badger Ordnance ambi charging handle on the way)

Now I just need another one.

(there's a Spyderco Manix combo blade that somehow got thrown in for good measure) 8)

Lionseye,
Why dont you order a stag upper and bolt and swap every thing over to leftside.
Because there's no reason to.
For me the benefit of having leftside ejection is small compared to the needing of the unstandard parts when I want or need to replace them, especially since all my firearms have a shtf intended purpose too if it came to that. It's just not worth it even though piston uppers don't wear parts the same as a DI, but I'd rather have more commonality than less in the case of a leftside to rightside ejecting AR.

The gas piston upper leaves almost no gas coming back into your face and the righthand side forward assist is perfect where it is for me. Even though I haven't ever needed to use it for purpose I still practice hitting it and it's in the perfect spot to just reach up with my lefthand thumb and push on with my lefthand never leaving the pistol grip. A leftside ejecting AR would actually force me to remove and use my lefthand and that's not a plus to me.

The ambi controls of the safety and Badger charging handle aren't any different to put on and are really the only ambi controls I need besides sling attachment points on the right side. The right side ejecting piston AR is much better for me all around.
The ejected rounds hit my right arm every once and while, but that's not any discomfortment at all. If I happened to be unlucky (knock on wood) and get a squib or bad round and have a kaboom there may be more possibility with the rightside ejection and opening on the receiver for fragments hitting my arm but most kabooms I've seen put the blunt of the blow onto the BCG, barrel and/or down through and out the mag.
It's a possibility for getting hurt, but there's no guarantee I wouldn't with a kaboom on a leftside ejecting AR either.

The rightside receiver opening lets me have a clear visual of the chamber/BCG/feeding/ejecting though without having to move the rifle around more to look in if it was on the left and if I do need to clear a jam (even though I never have had to on the POF) my lefthand can maintain control of the rifle by the grip and my right does all the work as it does with dropping and changing mags.
I honestly feel the rightside ejecting POF's with the extra ambi controls can be one of the best AR's there are for a lefty, that's why I'm buying another. :)
