Ok fellas, I'm kind of new to the AR15 world and I have a question. I found a lower parts kit that made a point to say that it had a rounded hammer. What's the pro/con/purpose of this?

Most kits come with "rounded" hammers. If it came with a notched hammer,it is incompatible with full auto guns. Not a very large concern for most people. I have a stag notched hammer and it has a better trigger pull than my other mil spec trigger/hammer combos.

Here is more info on it.

Oh i see, exactly what bubbatime said, apparently rounded hammers are longer lasting as far as wear and tear. They are also better for conversions like the .22 or other calibers and also full auto conversions as well, longer life... A notched hammer would not be for full auto use etc. more wear and tear I believe.

From what I have read, most AR's come with rounded hammers.

Most AR kits these days come with rounded hammers, but I'm sure there are some still circulating. FWIW, all of the trigger kits/LPK's we sell are all rounded hammers. As noted, they will cause less wear on the underside of your bolt carrier and work more uniformly with conversion kits and the like.

You can keep your notched hammers.

The notched hammers were to help prevent people converting ARs to full auto. It has NOTHING to do with "wear and tear". Both my Colt ARs came with them, and I know they are high quality parts (well- they were many years ago).
