I was just wanting to know every pro and con possible on each type, Im still debating which way to go for my AR, it will be a 5.56 1-9 16” Heavy Barrel Upper From Model 1 and need a push one way or the other on which barrel type to get.

Thanx

In a nutshell, chrome-lined barrels will have a longer life and be very easy to clean, while a stainless steel barrel will be a little more accurate.

i was asking the same question as you a couple weeks ago and decided that since it'll be my first AR and i'm not going to be entering any marksmanship competitions or anything that chrome lined was the way to go for me.

depends on how you shoot. The stainless will wear faster with hard use/rapid fire. The chrome will last longer but shoot less accurate(still 1 MOA with good ammo and good shooter in most cases) It all comes down to if you want sub-MOA accuracy in trade off for not quite as long of life. Given that I was told by a very reputable dealer that if the SS barrel is cared for and shot well it will still outshoot a new chrome barrel after 10,000rds. Just hear say but that is kind of eye opening to me.
