I have been looking at the Tangodown VFG.

I am not going to put a Surefire or any other Tacticool gadget on my AR yet. :)

To keep cost and weight down should I get a partial rail that just mounts under my stock handguard?

Does anyone know how well these work?

I have a Patrolman A3 Bushie.

If that is a bad idea what handguards would you recommend that do not weigh a ton or have rails that I will never use.

If you want add-on rail under standard handguards, get something from reputable company instead of some cheaper than dirt Chinese knock off. Midwest Industries has one for $20 or so.

But if you are thinking of attaching a bunch of other gadgets down the road, rail handguards may be a better investment. YHM makes light weight aluminum rail handguards at around $100.
