Okay guys. So I was talking to a friend of mine about rifles. I was telling him about the CMMG sale going on. He tells me his father is selling several of his guns. So he calls me tonight and says his father has a Colt Sporter that fires a 223 rnd, flash hider, and 1 in 7 twist 9 (stainless barrel). He also says it has a low serial #. It was supposedly is one of the first 2K built. I was wondering what a good price for it be for me to buy it at? He said he paid around $800 I'm guessing it is a Sporter II and not the Sporter.

Also I don't know much about ARs. Could you guys point me in the right direction toward some good sites for infos to help expand my knowledge. Also how can I tell if it really is the 2000th one off the line?

Thanks

the value can only be determined by what a buyer is willing to pay for something. a low serial number in a limited production run could possibly increase the value but them again normally limited production items rarely if ever get used and are for collecting.

IMO a low serial number of a mass produced item is no more valuable than a high number possibly even less so as they are going to be more prone problems as the bugs may not have been worked out.
